ZHANG Shishan is a Distinguished Professor at Shandong University, and Dean of the Research Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage. He also serves as the Director and Chief Expert of the Culture and Tourism Research Base of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Shandong University), Deputy President of the Chinese Folklore Society, Deputy President of the Chinese Art Anthropology Society, President of the Shandong Folklore Society, and Deputy President of the Shandong Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association.
He has led several major research projects, including the National Social Science Fund of China’s major project “Theoretical and Practical Research on Chinese Art Folklore”. His notable publications include Cultural Interpretation of Rural Art: A Study of Four Villages in Central Shandong, Chinese Art Folklore, Ritual and Custom: Understanding China in the Field, and Folklore Studies: Fieldwork with Temperature. He has received the First, Second, and Third Awards of the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Awards and was selected for the Program for New Century Excellent Talent in Universities of Ministry of Education.
