Staff development activities for new academic year

To deepen academic staff's understanding of quality assurance in higher education and support the continuous improvement of teaching quality, the Teaching and Learning Centre organised a series of professional development activities on 22 August and 5 September 2025. The workshops featured Dr Erica Lau, Associate Director of the School of Graduate Studies at Lingnan University in Hong Kong, and Dr Song Yue, Acting Deputy Director of the Teaching and Learning Centre at Macao Polytechnic University, as invited speakers. The workshops addressed key topics including outcome-based approaches to teaching and learning, programme review methods, and AI-powered teaching.

Dr Erica Lau systematically elucidated the core concepts of outcome-based teaching and learning, analysed its key elements in curriculum design at both macro and micro levels, and shared insights on leveraging innovative teaching tools to enhance educational effectiveness. Dr Song Yue provided an in-depth explanation of external review and internal evaluation methods for programme quality assurance, offering detailed guidance to teaching teams on developing programme materials that meet regulatory requirements.

The staff development activities attracted over one hundred participants and received highly positive feedback. Attendees generally found the content practical and beneficial, noting that it provided valuable reference and inspiration for their teaching work in the new academic year.
