Staff Professional Development Week

To continuously enhance the teaching skills and academic standards of our faculty and to deepen understanding of quality assurance in higher education, the Teaching and Learning Centre hosted a Staff Professional Development Week from 10 June to 13 June, 2025. The event featured a series of workshops led by Professor Wang Weirong from the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of Beijing Normal University; Dr. Wei Wei, Programme Coordinator of the PhD in Educational Technology and Innovation; Dr. Zhang Hongfeng, Programme Coordinator of the Master of Education (Cultural Communication and Education); and Dr Song Yue from the Teaching and Learning Centre. Topics included the application of artificial intelligence in teaching, outcome-based teaching and learning, teaching design and assessment, and quality assurance.

Professor Wang Weirong from the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of Beijing Normal University introduced design of teaching and learning activities, student assessment design.
Dr Wei Wei, Programme Coordinator of the PhD in Educational Technology and Innovation, shared GenAI in education, addressing students’ AI literacy and metacognitive challenges.
Dr Zhang Hongfeng, Programme Coordinator of the Master of Education (Cultural Communication and Education), shared outcome-based education.
Dr Song Yue from the Teaching and Learning Centre introduced the necessary elements in preparing the University’s QA documents regarding programme review.

The Staff Professional Development Week has attracted nearly 300 participants. Teachers felt that the event provided valuable insights into teaching design, student assessment, teaching approaches, and how to guide, train, and supervise students using AI. They found the experience highly rewarding.
