Admission Rules Governing Postgraduate Programmes

  1. Eligibility
  1. Applicants for admission to a Master’s degree programme must satisfy one of the following requirements:
    1. Holding a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, or
    2. Currently studying in the final year of the programme stated in Item a).
  2. Applicants for admission to a doctoral degree programme must satisfy one of the following requirements:
    1. Holding a Master’s degree or the equivalent, or
    2. Currently studying in the final year of the programme stated in Item a).
  3. Applicants are also required to satisfy any additional criteria prescribed by the programme of study concerned.
  1. Application Procedures
  1. Applicants must complete the following steps at the Online Application Portal of Macao Polytechnic University (hereafter referred to as ‘the University’) within the application period:
    1. Submit online application;
    2. Settle application fee (MOP250);
    3. Upload the following documents:
  1. Recent photo;
  2. Identification documents;
  3. Certificate(s) and academic transcript(s);
  4. Two reference letters (provided by referees);
  5. Any other documents required by individual programme;
  6. Research proposal (applicable to applicants for doctoral degree programmes only).
  1. In addition to the degree certificate, an applicant holding a degree awarded by a higher education institution in the Chinese Mainland is also required to provide the graduation certificate.
  2. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree top-up from higher diploma level are required to provide both the higher diploma and the degree certificate as well as their relevant academic transcript.
  3. Applicants currently studying in the final year of a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme are required to submit their most updated academic transcript and testimonial. The prospective graduates of Macao Polytechnic University are not required to do so.
  4. All documents should be in Chinese, Portuguese or English; otherwise, an official certified translation should be provided.
  5. Applications will only be considered valid after the application fee has been settled and all required documents have been submitted. All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  1. Selection and Offer
  1. The academic unit concerned shall inform the shortlisted candidates of the interview arrangements via email. Any failure to attend the interview/assessment shall lead to disqualification.
  2. The admission offer will be released via Candidate Portal of the University. We do not notify admission decisions by email or by any other means.
  3. A candidate who has been offered admission should download the offer letter, the guide to new student registration and other relevant documents (e.g. medical check-up form, debit note, etc.) from the Candidate Portal, and pay fees and register by the prescribed deadlines to confirm his/her student status at the University. Any failure to complete these procedures shall lead to disqualification.
  4. A candidate who has been offered admission on a conditional basis should also submit the required documents (e.g. certificate, evidence for language proficiency, etc.) before a prescribed date in order to gain full admission.
  1. Postgraduate Scholarships
    Candidates may apply for the postgraduate scholarships established by the University. The scholarship applications (together with relevant support documents) should be submitted simultaneously when applying for admission. For details, please refer to mpu.mo/pgscholarships.
     
  2. Support for Students with Disabilities
    The University has general guidelines in place for students with disabilities, providing them an equal opportunity to be admitted and to be successful in their studies. For more details, please refer to the University's website.
     
  3. Cancellation of Programmes
    The University reserves the right not to offer any programmes, or to suspend student intake temporarily.
     
  4. Termination of Application or Study
    Students are required to submit true and accurate information in their applications. Should there be any untrue and/or incorrect information, or an application that contains forged academic or related documents, or where the applicants has displayed any misconduct during the application or selection process, the University reserve the right to terminate his/her application and/or admission. In case of disqualified applications, all documents submitted and fees paid shall not be returned. The University also reserve the right to reject future applications submitted by such applicants.
