*Applications will only be considered valid for the selection process after the application fee has been settled and all required documents have been submitted. The academic unit concerned shall inform the shortlisted candidates of the interview arrangements via email. If your application is not selected in one round, it will be reassessed in the next round until admissions close. The selection process is normally completed by end of June 2026.

* Applications will only be considered valid after the application fee has been settled and all required documents have been submitted. All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Eligibility

1. Applicants for admission to a Master’s degree programme must satisfy one of the following requirements:

  • a) Holding a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, or
  • b) Currently studying in the final year of the programme stated in item a)

2. Applicants for admission to a Doctoral degree programme must satisfy one of the following requirements:

  • a) Holding a Master’s degree or the equivalent, or
  • b) Currently studying in the final year of the programme stated in item a).

3. Applicants are also required to satisfy any additional criteria prescribed by the programme of study concerned.

Documents required

Applicants are required to upload a copy of the following documents via the Online Application Portal:

  • Identification document
  • Recent photo
  • Certificate(s) and academic transcript(s)1
  • Two reference letters (provided by referees, Click here for instructions on uploading letters of recommendation)
  • Any other documents required by individual programme
  • Research proposal (applicable to applicants for doctoral degree programmes only)

Remarks:

1. Applicants currently studying in the final year of a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme are required to submit their most updated academic transcript and testimonial. MPU prospective graduates are not required to do so.

2. In addition to the degree certificate, an applicant holding a degree awarded by a higher education institution in the Chinese Mainland is also required to provide the graduation certificate; Applicants with a bachelor’s degree top-up from higher diploma level are required to provide both the higher diploma and the degree certificate as well as their relevant academic transcript.

3. All documents should be in Chinese, Portuguese or English; otherwise, an official certified translation should be provided.

  3. Evidence of English proficiency [Test results, e.g. IELTS (International English Language Testing System), CET-6 (College English Test Band 6), TOEFL, TEM-4, TEM-8, other equivalent proficient tests] or proof of obtaining a Master's degree with English as the medium of instruction; and
  4. List of all academic publications (if any)
Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Applied Technology*
  1. Curriculum vitae [in English, including the intention for PhD study, the topic of master's thesis or report, and the list of Scopus indexed research papers being published or accepted (if any) as well as the contribution in each research paper];
  2. Research proposal (in English); and 
  3. Full text of research papers listed in CV (if any; notification of acceptance should be included if the paper has not yet been published)
Doctor of Philosophy in Artificial Intelligence Driven Drug Discovery*
  1. Full resume with detailed academic publication list;
  2. Research proposal in Artificial Intelligence driven Drug Discovery and related field; and
  3. Full text of the representative academic publications

Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technology and Innovation*

  1. Curriculum vitae [in English, including: the areas of PhD study; academic results in undergraduate and master's programmes; titles and abstracts of the master's thesis; and the list of Scopus indexed research papers being published or accepted as well as the contribution in each research paper (if any)];
  2. Research proposal (in English, being related to development, testing, implementation and management of educational technologies and including at least four sections: 1) literature review, 2) research question(s), 3) research design and 4) references;  and
  3. Full text of academic publications listed in CV (if any; notification of acceptance should be included if the paper has not yet been published)
Doctor of Philosophy in Artificial Intelligence Empowered Smart Healthy Ageing^*
  1. Full resume;
  2. Research proposal in Artificial Intelligence-empowered smart healthy ageing and related field;
  3. Detailed academic publication list (if any); and
  4. Full text of the representative academic publications, patents and awards (if any, maximum 5 items)
Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy
  1. Curriculum vitae (must include a list of publications from the last three years, with title, journal names, and DOIs); 
  2. Research proposal# (reference outline);
  3. Copies of core journal papers from domestic and international journals;
  4. Evidence of language proficiency (if any)[e.g. Results of IELTS or TOEFL, etc.]; and
  5. Bachelor's degree certificates and academic transcripts

Doctor of Philosophy in Cultural Heritage and Anthropology

  1. Curriculum vitae in Chinese (English version optional) ;
  2. Research proposal; 
  3. Evidence of language proficiency (if any)
    [e.g. Results of IELTS, or TOEFL, or CET-4 and CET-6, etc.]; 
  4. Bachelor's degree certificates and academic transcripts are also required; and
  5. Copies of core journal papers such as Scopus or CSSCI (must submit if any)

Doctor of Business Administration

  1. Curriculum vitae;
  2. Research proposal;
  3. Evidence of work experience (at least 3 years of work experience in managerial level by the application deadline (internships and part-time jobs are not considered, full-time employment certificate issued by working entity is a must); Applicants with outstanding research achievements might get the exemption of work experience requirements, the information in point 4 must be provided); and
  4. Evidence of outstanding research achievements with 3 representative papers, publications, or project materials (if any)
Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education and Sports Science
  1. Curriculum vitae;
  2. Research proposal; and
  3. Evidence of relevant achievements (representative papers, books, patents; scientific research award certificate; award certificates; certificates for teaching awards; competition results and skill level certifications for athletes; evidence of foreign language proficiency; evidence of social serice involvement; other relevant information) (if any)
Master of Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpreting
  1. Curriculum vitae;
  2. Language proficiency certificate (if any)
    [e.g. in Chinese language (HSK), in Portuguese language (CAPLE-C1 level, Celpe-Bras-advanced level), in English language (IELTS, TOEFL-advanced level)];

* The programme will be taught at Macao and Hengqin campuses starting from Academic Year 2026/2027.

^ The programme offered in Academic Year 2026/2027 will be officially launched upon publication in the Macao SAR Gazette.

  • The academic unit concerned shall inform the shortlisted candidates of the interview arrangements via email. Any failure to attend the interview/assessment shall lead to disqualification.
