                             The  internship  aims  to  allow  students  to  integrate  academic  learning  in  the  areas  of

                             business and economics through a fixed period of work in a professional context within
                             various public or private organisations. The internship offers students a great opportunity
                             to  gain  enhanced  knowledge  of  employability  skills,  workplace  culture,  and  career
                             planning.  During  the  internship,  students  are  required  to  report  regularly  to  their
                             instructors and submit a report on their experience.

                             Sciences/Statistics

                             The curricular unit intends to contribute to consolidate the students' learning    process
                             in the acquisition of a set of skills for handling, processing and analyzing data in the field
                             of social sciences. At this level, training is oriented towards aspects more related to data
                             analysis.  Specifically,  learning  is  directed  towards  the  organization  of  qualitative  and
                             quantitative data, the description of data, mathematical models, statistical inference and
                             the association between variables.
                 PSYC3111    Introduction to Psychology        3       45 hrs    ---

                             This  curricular  unit  aims  to  introduce  students  to  the  modern  science  of  psychology
                             through  the  discussion  of  different  psychological  phenomena,  so  that  they  can
                             understand  themselves  and  society  from  the  perspective  of  psychology.  Topics  to  be
                             discussed include the biological basis of human behavior, the process of physical and
                             mental  development, the principles of learning, the nature of intelligence, emotional
                             characteristics and changes, and the application of psychology.

                 MGMT3112  Crisis Management                   3       45 hrs    ---
                             This curricular unit introduces specific concepts and knowledg in crisis management and

                             seeks to strengthen students' crisis awareness by introducing them to the characteristics
                             and  importance  of  crisis  management,  as  well  as  the  institution  building  and  the
                             implementation of crisis management plan. Furthermore, it examines the operations in
                             crisis management and provides different strategies for the crisis management process:
                             prevention, detection, response and recovery.

                 HHRM3111    Human Resources Management        3       45 hrs    ---
                             This curricular unit has the general objective of making students aware of the importance

                             and dynamism of human resources in the context of organizations. It analyzes the general
                             concepts and theories of human resources management, with emphasis on recruitment,
                             selection  and  hiring,  definition  of  the  compensation  package,  employee  health  and
                             benefits, employee training and development, and performance appraisal.
