This nursing specialty subject introduces to students key theories and skills of mental
health nursing. It prepares students to care the mentally ill with the right attitude and
professional competence in both hospital and community settings.
NPAP3102 Public Health and Preventive 2 30 hrs ---
Medicine

This subject aims to provide students with the basics of public health and preventive
medicine. History of public health and preventive medicine; basic functions of public
health; population, community and health; determining factors of health; evaluation of
community health status; preventive medicine; disease prevention in community settings;
health policy; health plan; emergency health planning; and public health in Macao are
covered in this subject.

NRES3102 Nursing Research 3 45 hrs ---
In this subject, students would explore issues about development of evidence-base

nursing practice. They would appreciate the purposes, nature and methodology of
conducting nursing research. They would also learn to make use of literature on nursing
research for improving practice.
NSTA3101 Health Statistics 3 45 hrs ---
This subject focuses on application of statistics in health care research. It covers the use
of statistics in analysis and inference. The use of common statistics software would also
be introduced.

ICNC4200 Clinical Placement (Comprehensive 12 480 hrs CCEN3102,

Nursing Care)
Through this general clinical internship, students would have clinical experience

resembling a qualified nurse in some designated units, such as the emergency
department. Students are also required to practice on shift duties with high levels of
independence and professional competence.
ICOM4200 Clinical Placement (Community 4 160 hrs IFUN1200,

Health Nursing)
Through this practicum, students apply the knowledge of community health nursing to
clinical practice.

NCHA4101 Comprehensive Health Assessment 3 45 hrs NBHA1102
Health assessment is one of core subjects for nursing students to master the principles
and means for collecting, synthesizing, analyzing some clinical data and summarizing
diagnosis in order to provide nursing diagnosis and basis for nursing specialty courses.
