In this subject, students would explore in-depth specific issues in nursing practice. They

would employ critical and analytic skills in examining related issues and work on a project
to suggest solution to existing problems. Through such process, students’ research
competence and problem-solving ability would be enhanced.
NCOM4101 Community Health Nursing 3 45 hrs NFUN1101,

This nursing specialty subject introduces key concepts and skills of community health
nursing. Students would learn the specific skills of assessing and promoting health of the
community.
NLAM4101 Leadership and Management in 3 45 hrs ---
Nursing
This subject introduces basic concepts of leadership and management. It includes both

theories and practical skills of management. Students would explore the roles of nursing
leaders in health care services. They are expected to learn effective skills in management.
NPDN4102 Professional Development of 2 30 hrs ---
Nursing

This subject examines various issues of professional development of nursing. These
include the role of nursing education, and contemporary issues like evidence-based
practice, quality assurance, occupational health and safety, legal issues in nursing practice,
advanced nursing practice and planning of professional life.
NTCM4101 Traditional Chinese Medicine in 3 45 hrs ---
Nursing
The subject consists of 45 hours and in 15 sections. The course will cover the brief history
of traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its practice in Nursing. The students will need
to understand the basic theory of TCM, such as Yin and Yang, five elements, phenomenon
of internal organs, essence, vital energy, blood, body fluid and spirit, channel, treating
principles and methods, etiology and pathology of TCM, four diagnostic methods, various
differentiations. The students also need to learn TCM herbal medicine, TCM prescription
and clinical practices in Internal medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and gynecology, and
Pediatrics. Finally, the students will learn to practice some common nursing skills TCM.

Elective Subjects - Group A
PEDU1100 Physical Education 2 30 hrs ---
This subject gives students an introduction to the physiology in motion, the importance,
purposes and tasks of sports in health and society. Students will learn the basic techniques
in one kind of sports training. Topics include exercise and health, techniques and tactics
in elective sports training.
