MPU hosted Careers Day on 26 March 2024, and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin Enterprises Recruitment Fair for Macao Universities on 10 April 2024, respectively. Over 140 local and international companies from Macao, the Greater Bay Area, and beyond were invited, offering more than 4,000 job and internship vacancies. Both events provided students and graduates with employment information and the opportunity to connect with potential employers.
Careers Day Attracts Local and International Enterprises to Recruit Talent
The opening ceremony of the Careers Day was officiated by Lei Vai Fong, Secretary-General of MPU, along with deans and directors of various academic units and representatives from various participating organisations and enterprises. To express gratitude for the support of the participating corporations and organisations, Secretary-General Lei Vai Fong and other university representatives presented certificates of appreciation to the corporations and organisations.
The Careers Day featured diversified activities, including 16 seminars, interactive booths with human resources representatives from 140 companies, mock interview sessions, job-hunting workshops, corporate visits, and an art programme exhibition of the Art Talent Development Showcase. The activities aim to help students learn about current job markets, enabling early preparation for career prospects. Companies from various industries encompass public institutions, healthcare, entertainment and leisure, information technology and media, banking and finance, event planning, youth entrepreneurship, financial technology, telecommunications, aviation services and transportation, education, and more to support students’ career development.

Catering for the Needs of Talent in the Greater Bay Area
In collaboration with the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance, MPU hosted the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin Enterprises Recruitment Fair for Macao Universities. The event features over 140 job openings from 28 prominent companies from the Cooperation Zone, spanning sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and cultural tourism. This event has attracted participation from students across various universities.
The opening ceremony of the recruitment fair was led by Professor Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU; Liu Kaiwen, Second Level Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Local Financial Supervision Administration; Chi Tenghui, Representative of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Director of the Department of Finance; Zhang Ge, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau; Bao Weichun, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance; and Shao Wenyong, Acting Director of the Social Security Office of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau. During the event, representatives from Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology, E Fund Management Co., Ltd., and GF Fund Management Co., Ltd. were invited to conduct career talks on behalf of their companies, focusing on current development, employee benefits, internship and employment opportunities, and corporate culture.
The recruitment fair extended the possibilities for the career development of university students and youths, facilitating their employment prospects and future success in the Cooperation Zone. By providing a one-stop platform for employment and internship opportunities, the organisers have joined hands to nurture talents and help youths in Macao integrate into national development.
According to the latest Graduate Survey, the employment and further study rate of MPU graduates is about 90%. The four main industries in which employed graduates are engaged are healthcare, education, entertainment and gaming, as well as trading. Universities that graduates attend for further studies include the University of Oxford, the University of London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Washington, and the University of Hong Kong, among others.
