Dr. George Leung Pak Heng

Dr. George Leung is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy at the University of Hong Kong. He also serves as the Associate Head (Undergraduate Education) of the Department. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he also completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Physiology. Then he pursued two years of post-doctoral training at the Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University. 

Dr. Leung’s research focuses on nucleoside transporters and cardiovascular pharmacology. He is also interested in exploring the pharmacology of traditional herbal medicine, particularly its potential for treating age-related diseases, cancer and inflammation. He has published more than 120 full-length research articles in international scientific journals including British Journal of Pharmacology, European Journal of Pharmacology, Biochemical Pharmacology, American Journal of Physiology and Circulation Research.

Dr. Leung has previously served as a board member of the Pharmacy and Poison Board of Hong Kong. Currently, he is the Treasurer of the Asian Society for Vascular Biology and the Secretary of the Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. He has also received the Teaching Medal from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong for his excellence in teaching.
