Research result of our faculty members published on “Management Decision”, a leading management journal

Our faculty members, Prof. W.M. To and Dr. G. H. Huang, published an article entitled “Effects of equity, perceived organizational support and job satisfaction on organizational commitment in Macao's gaming industry” in Management Decision* https://doi.org/10.1108/MD-11-2021-1447 .

What is it about?

The study was designed to answer two important research questions. How do job equity, pay equity, and perceived organizational support (POS) influence employees' job satisfaction and organizational commitment in Macao’s casinos? How big are the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on employees’ perceptions and behaviors?

What are the key findings?

The study's results showed that job equity and pay equity affected perceived organizational support and job satisfaction while perceived organizational support impacted organizational commitment directly and indirectly through job satisfaction. Organizational commitment was found to negatively influence counterproductive work behavior. Additionally, no significant difference was observed between mean scores from respondents in the first and second surveys (before and after the Covid-19 outbreak) on job equity, pay equity, perceived organizational support and job satisfaction. However, some minor but significant changes were observed in items of organizational commitment (negative changes) and items of counterproductive work behavior (positive changes).
