Business talk "Sports event and time economy"

The Business talk was held on Nov.20, 2024 in Lecture Theatre 2 of Wui Chi Building by Dr. Alan Yung, the Vice President at M Plus Sports Media based in Macau. The talk interpreted the relationship between sports event and economy and beyond : Recalling the Gladiator movie allows us to understand this ancient sport not only as a combat sport but also as something that can be commodified. Modern sports continue and all stakeholders contribute to the economy. Sports events impact the local and regional economy has been a topic of significant interest among researchers, policymakers, and sports enthusiasts alike. The growth of the sports tourism industry has become an increasingly important social, cultural, political, and economic phenomenon.  Time is a valuable commodity that spectators and participants spend in a sports event. The duration of the event, the time spent traveling to and from the venue, and the time spent experiencing the event all contribute to the time economy surrounding a sports event. Effectively managing may enhance the overall experience and make sports events more appealing to stakeholder and the society as a whole.
