Accounting Programme Students Won Gold Award in China Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao University Students Accounting and Business Management Case Competition

Four Year 3 students from the Faculty of Business Accounting Programme have won the Gold Award at the 2025 China Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao University Students Accounting and Business Management Case Competition. Held on July 26, 2025, in Hong Kong, the event was organized by the China International Chamber of Commerce Commercial Industry Chamber, with academic support from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the IPA Group.

The winning team, supervised by Dr. Fong Chun Cheong, Steve, consisted of Qi YuNan, Li JiaMing, Liang ZiTong, and Chen ZiTeng. Competing against teams from top universities across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, they impressed judges with a comprehensive business plan for BYD Company Limited (stock code: 01211.HK). Drawing on BYD's performance reports from 2022-2024, the students proposed an innovative "Battery Bank" initiative, transforming electric vehicle batteries into a shared energy storage system akin to "shared power banks."

The team's submission featured detailed financial analysis, strategic planning, and implementation steps, supported by projected income statements. Their 30-minute presentation demonstrated exceptional analytical skills, clarity, and teamwork, earning top scores in content completeness, problem identification, and professional delivery.

Dr. Fong praised the students' dedication: "This victory highlights MPU's commitment to fostering practical accounting and business expertise." The Gold Award underscores the team's role in advancing service trade through finance and accounting.  The team members found this competition to be highly challenging. Each student gave their best effort, and everyone felt very joyful and showed mutual respect and admiration.

This achievement builds on MPU's strong track record in regional competitions, inspiring future students to excel in real-world business challenges.
