                             This learning module aims to increase students’ skills and competence in using English in

                             everyday situations, as well as in the workplace. It will develop students’ use of the four
                             language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) with substantial emphasis being
                             placed on oral and listening skills in class. Language skills include skimming & scanning
                             techniques, participating in discussions, greetings and small talk, etc.

                             This learning module is intended to further increase students’competence in using English
                             in everyday situations, as well as in the workplace. The interaction is encouraged through
                             many communicative activities and tasks, and the integration of authentic materials also
                             enhances the usefulness of the course.
                 LLAW1110    Constitution and Basic Law        2       30 hrs    ---

                             This module introduces the general principles, the state system, the state organs, and the
                             fundamental  rights  and  duties  of  citizens  stated  in  the  Constitution  of  the  People’s
                             Republic of China (the Chinese Constitution). It also covers the formulation of the “One
                             Country, Two Systems” policy and the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative
                             Region of the People’s Republic of China (the Macao Basic Law) and such sections in the
                             Macao Basic Law as the relationship between the Central Government and the Macao
                             Special Administrative Region (SAR), the political structure of the Macao SAR, and the
                             fundamental rights of Macao residents. The module is aimed at assisting the students to
                             establish a correct understanding about the Chinese Constitution and the Macao Basic
                             Law,  and  to  identify  the  basic  concept  of  the  legal  protection  of  people’s  rights  and
                             freedoms.

                             In a society with increasingly globalized knowledge, it is crucial to equip students with
                             digital  skills  that  enable  them  to  understand  Communication  Technologies  (“ICT”)  as
                             useful and effective working tools. It intends to explore the main concepts in the field of
                             ICT in terms of both hardware and software. An introductory approach will also be made
                             to some current technological tools that will give practitioners knowledge and ability in
                             the manipulation of applications that maximize their productivity.

                             Commerce
                             This  course  aims  to  develop  students'  enjoyment  of  reading  in  Portuguese  while
                             simultaneously  learning  the  language  through  reading.  The  texts  (literary  and  non-
                             literary) to be studied aim to enhance reading competency, particularly inferential, and
                             are related to Economics and Commerce. The promotion of written expression based on
                             the readings is also an objective.
