                             To provide students with an understanding of the current laws and regulations applicable

                             to pharmacy professionals and pharmaceutical businesses in Macao. Contents: Overview
                             of  pharmacy  laws  in  Macao;  laws  and  regulations  governing  pharmacy  professionals,
                             pharmaceutical businesses and drug registration; laws and regulations concerning narcotic
                             and psychotic drugs; laws and regulations related to traditional Chinese medicine, etc.
                 BSPP3101      Pharmacy Practice II            4       60 hrs    ---
                             To equip students with the essential knowledge and skills for assessing and managing
                             common  minor  ailments  using  appropriate  over-the-counter  (OTC)  medicines,  while
                             emphasizing the importance of patient counseling. Contents: Classification and utilization
                             of OTC medicines; OTC and non-pharmacological counseling for minor ailments, including
                             eye, ear, skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal tract problems, pain management, women’s
                             health, childhood conditions, insomnia, and prevention of heart disease; digital health and
                             telepharmacy, etc.

                             This learning module is designed to introduce students to drug use evaluation and other
                             advanced  pharmacy  practices.  Contents:  Advanced  drug  information  services;  patient
                             counselling  services;  drug  use  evaluation  (DUE)  in  community  and  hospital  settings;
                             pharmacy management in healthcare institutions; medical toxicology practice; medication
                             management for special populations, etc.
                 BSSE3101    Biostatistics and Epidemiology    3       45 hrs    ---

                             To equip students with an understanding of health surveys, research design, statistical
                             analysis,  as  well  as  epidemiological  concepts  and  measurements.  Contents:  Concepts,
                             applications and general terminology of biostatistics; descriptive statistics; measures of
                             central tendency and variability; normal distribution and its applications; regression and
                             correlation; T-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA); chi-square test; data management
                             and analysis using SPSS; interpretation and discussion of statistical results; concepts of
                             epidemiology;  common  epidemiological  measurements  and  principles;  life  and  death
                             statistics, etc.

                             To  enhance  students’  exposure  to  different  contexts  of  using  English  for  authentic

                             communicative  purposes  in  both  daily  life  and  work,  with  an  emphasis  on  the
                             development of listening, speaking, grammar usage, writing, and reading comprehension
                             abilities. Contents: Various topics related to daily life and work.

                             To  enhance  students’  exposure  to  different  contexts  of  using  English  for  authentic
                             communicative  purposes  in  both  daily  life  and  work,  with  an  emphasis  on  the
                             development of listening, speaking, grammar usage, writing, and reading comprehension
                             abilities. Contents: A continuation of English V, covering various topics related to daily life
                             and work, including job interviews and resume writing.
