Deepening Science and Innovation Collaboration with Beihang University

International collaboration has become a key driver in fostering knowledge innovation, talent cultivation, and technological advancement in higher education. Beihang University and Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) have united their efforts to advance technology and education. The formalisation of this collaboration took place during a visit by a delegation from Beihang University led by Academician Wang Yunpeng, President of Beihang University and a distinguished member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Both universities solidified their partnership by signing a comprehensive cooperation agreement, further cementing their relationship in talent development and scientific exploration.

At the signing ceremony, over 300 leaders, faculty members, and students from both universities were present to witness this important occasion. Academician Wang lauded MPU for its outstanding quality of education and its effective translation of scientific research into practical applications. He underscored the fruitful outcomes already achieved through the longstanding collaboration between Beihang University and MPU. This new agreement, as highlighted by Academician Wang, not only represents a significant milestone in their shared history of collaboration but also signals the commencement of a fresh journey towards mutual success. Expressing optimism, Academician Wang envisioned this agreement as a catalyst for both institutions to capitalise on their strengths, integrate innovative resources, and broaden cooperative frameworks in education, technology, and talent nurturing. This collaborative endeavour is poised to make substantial contributions to the national strategy of fostering innovation-driven development, ushering in a new era of advancement and cooperation.

Professor Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU, extended warm commendations to Beihang University for its outstanding contributions to academic research and education. In his remarks, he reminisced on the fruitful history of collaboration between the two universities and expressed a bright outlook for forthcoming joint initiatives. Rector Im highlighted Beihang University’s global reputation as a premier institution renowned for its research eminence and talent cultivation, both domestically and internationally. Positioned strategically in Macao and on the global stage, MPU remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing educational innovation and the pragmatic application of technology. He emphasised the importance of the ongoing collaboration, anticipating that the partnership will evolve into a more diverse and profound alliance, aligning closely with Macao’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy and contributing to the progress of both the nation and the region.

After the ceremony, Academician Wang paid a visit to MPU’s Engineering Research Centre of Applied Technology on Machine Translation and Artificial Intelligence as well as the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Driven Drug Discovery. Aligning with MPU’s profound expertise and innovative work in artificial intelligence, the delegation acknowledged the University’s accomplishments in fundamental research, technological advancements, and community engagement. Expressing enthusiasm for expanded collaboration across diverse domains, both parties are eager to explore further opportunities in technological innovation and remain dedicated to nurturing top-tier tech talent equipped with a global outlook.
