Honorary Doctorates Conferred on Three Distinguished Scholars

During the graduation ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year, Macao Polytechnic University conferred honorary doctorates upon three distinguished scholars from the academic and technology sectors. The recipients included Professor Qiao Jie, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Executive Vice President of Peking University; Professor Amílcar Falcão, Rector of the University of Coimbra (UC), Portugal; and Dr. Kong Chio Fai, a notable technology expert. They were conferred Doctor of Science honoris causa in recognition of their outstanding academic accomplishments and significant contributions to societal and educational advancement. Officiating the conferment ceremony on behalf of the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR and Chancellor of MPU, Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, congratulated the honorary conferees on their remarkable achievements.

Strategic Partnership with The Asia-Pacific Station of China Media Group

The “AI+” strategy is a cornerstone of recent research and development at MPU. This innovative approach merges science with art to enhance the digital distribution of arts and culture, fostering the integration of creative elements across a spectrum of industries. During the inauguration ceremony of the “Lotus Flower in the Era of Prosperity, Creating the Future” video clip collection initiative centred on patriotism, MPU entered into a momentous collaboration by formalising a memorandum of understanding with the Asia-Pacific Station of China Media Group (CMG). This agreement signifies a pivotal juncture in media partnerships and academic interchange, heralding a new era of synergy and collaboration between these entities.

MPU Clinches Second National Education Achievement Award in Higher Education

The National Education Achievement Award is the premier national accolade in China for education and pedagogic innovations. Established by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and organised by the Ministry of Education, the award undergoes evaluations every four years. Having first received this prestigious award in 2018, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) was honoured again four years later, in recognition of its exemplary achievements in educational innovation. The award ceremony in Macao was held in 2024 and presided over by Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, who presented the certificate and award document to the MPU team.

Deepening Science and Innovation Collaboration with Beihang University

International collaboration has become a key driver in fostering knowledge innovation, talent cultivation, and technological advancement in higher education. Beihang University and Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) have united their efforts to advance technology and education. The formalisation of this collaboration took place during a visit by a delegation from Beihang University led by Academician Wang Yunpeng, President of Beihang University and a distinguished member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Both universities solidified their partnership by signing a comprehensive cooperation agreement, further cementing their relationship in talent development and scientific exploration.
