                            This  subject  helps  student  master  knowledge  and  skills  of  computer  operations,  and

                            application  of  common  computer  programs  like  word  processing,  spreadsheets  and
                            presentation programs in the Windows environment. Also, students would learn to use
                            search engine for on-line collection of nursing information.
                IPSY1100    Introduction to Psychology        2       30 hrs    ---

                            This  subject  introduces  the  knowledge  of  basic  psychology,  and  to  let  students
                            understand the psychological and normal behaviour of themselves and others in their
                            daily  life,  thus  promoting  the  personal  growth  and  development  of  nursing  students.
                            Teaching content includes understanding the subject of psychology; how psychologists
                            measure mental state and function; how the brain contributes to learning and language,
                            development and motivation, cognition and personality, perception and consciousness,
                            and behaviour.

                            This  subject  aims  to  develop  students’  competence  in  using  Portuguese  for  general
                            purposes. Students are encouraged to build their confidence in expressing themselves in
                            Portuguese through various activities and tasks, including the development of students’
                            Portuguese reading, writing and speaking ability.
                SOCI2100    Introduction to Sociology         2       30 hrs    ---

                            This  subject  introduces  the  basic  principles,  perspectives  and  concepts  in  sociology,
                            which  could  be  taken  as  tools  for  analysis  of  social  phenomena  in  local  and  global
                            contexts.  The  content  of  the  course  materials  involve  the  rise  of  capitalism  after  the
                            industrial  revolutions  in  Europe,  modernization,  rationalization,  globalization,  social
                            structure, institutions, social interactions, social problems in contemporary societies.
                                           Elective Subjects - Group B
                NLDE2100    Life-And-Death Education          2       30 hrs    ---
                            This subject aims to equip students with realistic, religious, and philosophic theories on
                            life-and-death. The life-and-death ethical topics, including abortion, euthanasia, advance
                            care planning, suicide and organ donation, etc. will be introduced. The subject also aims
                            to guide students to reflect life-and-death affairs both for patients and for themselves.
                NPOR3100    Medical Portuguese                2       30 hrs    PORT2100

                            This  30-hours  subject  aims  to  help  the  students  to  build  up  a  basic  knowledge  of
                            terminology  in  medical  Portuguese,  as  well  as  using  the  Portuguese  language  in  the
                            health  care  setting.  Students  are  encouraged  to  build  their  confidence  in  expressing
                            themselves  in  Portuguese  through  various  activities  and  tasks,  including  the
                            development of students' Portuguese reading, writing and speaking ability required as a
                            nurse. At the end of this subject, the students should be able to become competent in
                            the  use  of  Portuguese  in  clinical  nursing  practice;  and  demonstrate  the  effective
                            Portuguese language ability to communicate verbally and in written with their clients
                            and colleagues in the health care team.
