                            This course aims to further develop and strengthen students’ receptive and productive

                            skills  in  written  English.  Emphasis  is  laid  upon  applying  analytical  and  critical  reading
                            skills  to  a  variety  of  texts  and  upon  writing  expository  essays.  After  completing  this
                            course, students are expected to recognize and use various patterns of text organization
                            to compose effective essays.

                            The goal of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of the Portuguese
                            language at lexical, morphological, syntactic and semantic levels. Particular emphasis is
                            laid upon vocabulary building and grammar acquisition through reading original texts on
                            current affairs, society, culture, politics and economy.

                            This course, as a continuation of Portuguese III, aims to further provide students with

                            the basic knowledge of the Portuguese language at lexical, morphological, syntactic, and
                            semantic  levels.  Particular  emphasis  is  laid  upon  vocabulary  building  and  grammar
                            acquisition through reading original texts on current affairs, society, culture, politics and
                            economy.

                            This comprehensive Chinese course trains students at a high level and familiarizes them

                            with the phonetics, vocabulary and grammatical rules of the Chinese language from the
                            theoretical perspective. Students will be able to enlarge their vocabulary and enhance
                            their basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, particularly their reading and
                            writing abilities. They are also instructed to pay attention to the cultural contents in the
                            reading materials so that their understanding of Chinese culture could be deepened.

                            This course is a continuation of Advanced Chinese I. It trains students at a high level and

                            familiarizes them with the phonetics, vocabulary and grammatical rules of the Chinese

                            Chinese I
                            This  skills  oriented  course  aims  to  equip  students  with  a  high  level  of  proficiency  in

                            listening Chinese and oral expression through various listening and speaking practices.
                            They are expected to use Chinese to communicate in an appropriate and diversified way
                            in their social life.
