                             To  increase  students’  exposure  to  different  contexts  of  using  English  for  authentic

                             communicative purposes both in daily lives and at work. The four macro-skills are covered
                             and writing skills are to be emphasized. Oral presentations are required for assessment.
                             Contents: Continuation of English I and II which include expression of likes and dislikes;
                             Agreements  and  disagreements;  Talking  about  social  problems  and  offer  solutions;
                             Discussing about historic and future events; Describing major life events and regrets about
                             the past, etc.

                 BSBB3102    Immunohematology (Blood Bank)       2     30 hrs    ---
                             To  enable  students  to  understand  the  fundamental  principles  of  human

                             immunohematology  and  blood  bank  basic  techniques  through  lectures  and  practical
                             sessions. Contents: ABO and other blood groups, reagents for immunohematology, blood
                             transfusion products with preparation and storage methods, antigens/antibodies reaction
                             of RBCs; Anti-human globulin test, direct and indirect Combs test, type and screen test for
                             blood  transfusion  procedures,  blood  collection  and  screening  test  for  donors;  Human
                             leukocytes antigens detection, and the prevention of diseases from blood transfusion;
                             Transfusion reaction, hemolytic diseases for new born babies, stem cells collection and
                             test procedures with clinical perspectives.

                 BSHE3102    Health Education and Promotion       3    45 hrs    ---
                             To equip students with the principles and methods for health education and promotion.
                             Contents:  Theory  in  health  education  and  promotion;  Health  behaviour;  Health
                             communication;  Health  assessment;  Health  education  intervention  planning  and
                             evaluation; Health promotion in school, community; Healthy city; Health education and
                             promotion in Macao.
                 BSHP3101      Histopathology                  5       75 hrs    BSPP1102

                             To enable students to understand the principles, basic techniques and practical skills in
                             cytology,  histology,  histopathology,  and  special  immuno-chemical  staining  methods.
                             Contents:  Basic  construction  of  cells  and  tissues  with  microscopic  smear  examination
                             practice in circulation, digestive with glands, respiratory, genital with glands; The Histology
                             practice including: preparation of smears for cells and tissues, immuno-chemical staining
                             and special staining in histology, the smears of tumors with types and different phases,
                             immuno-complex  diseases,  female-genital  diseases;  Cytology  practice  including:  plural
                             fluid, sputum, urine and Pap smears.
