To educate students with good professional ethics, rigorous scientific attitudes and
working styles, to develop knowledge acquisition abilities, creativity as well as team spirit
through practical experiences. Contents: Students will practice in different institutes that
are related to the laboratory science profession (hospital laboratories, public laboratories,
or private companies). Under the supervision of the staff in these institutes, students’
performances will be evaluated. The internship training covers clinical chemistry, clinical
microbiology, clinical hematology, histopathology and public health analysis.
BSTL4101 Thesis I 2 30 hrs ---
To equip students with the academic skills in writing a review article and conducting
research in a defined area of interest, leading to a better understanding of the knowledge
learned and to be more competitive in the future work and study. Contents (Thesis I):
Research question conception; Literature review; Organization and summarizing the
information from the literature; Proposal writing. Students are required to submit a
research proposal at the end of Thesis I. Contents (Thesis II): Data collection; Data analysis;
Result discussion; Thesis writing. Students are required to submit a thesis at the end of
Thesis II.
BSTL4102 Thesis II 4 60 hrs ---

ENGL4101 English VII 2 30 hrs ---
To increase students’ exposure to different contexts of using English for authentic
communicative purposes both in daily lives and at work. The four macro-skills are covered
and writing skills are to be emphasized. Oral presentations and oral interviews are required
for assessment. In addition, medical terminologies about health concepts, diseases and
others are added. Writing resumes and covering letters are to be included. Contents:
Continuation of English V and VI which include expression of opinion and reporting events;
Analyzing information; Talking about scientific advances, etc.
