This is a document produced by the Central Government of the People's Republic of China at the end of a process started in 2018. It has as its time horizon the period 2018-2035.

Master Plan of the Development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin

Henqqin is an island separated from Macao by a strip of water and connected by a bridge. It was assigned the role of serving as a platform for the diversification of Macao's economy, creating a 106km2 zone with joint administration, bringing the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" to a new area of application. In September 2021, the document "Master Plan of the Development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin" was published, defining the zone's development objectives, which include various initiatives linked to research, innovation and relations with Portuguese-speaking countries.
