Macao Polytechnic Institute launched "Chinese-Portuguese Simultaneous Interpretation Machine Translation System" product to assist Hengqin's Guangdong-Macao-Shenzhen Cooperation Zone construction

The "Chinese-Portuguese Simultaneous Interpretation Machine Translation System 2.0" developed by the Engineering Research Centre of Applied Technology on Machine Translation and Artificial Intelligence, Ministry of Education of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) " was officially launched in the afternoon of 9th November at the MPI. "The new product is an industry-leading Chinese-Portuguese speech recognition and simultaneous interpretation system built in conjunction with the International Science and Technology Innovation Center of the Greater Bay Area.

Macao Polytechnic Institute officially launched the “China-Portuguese News Learning App” version 2.0 this month. The new version integrates information categories on the basis of the original version, with column classification, adding seven major sections: Greater Bay Area, Employment, Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Life, and Culture.

Brazil and China in Talks to Strengthen Science and Technology Ties

Brazil and China are discussing further bilateral cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence and smart cities, with calls for added financing for new projects.
The areas of mutual interest for potential cooperation were discussed during a virtual meeting between the Brazilian science, technology and innovation minister, Marcos Pontes, and China’s science and technology minister Wang Zhigang.

The second issue of the academic journal “Orientes do Português” is officially launched

The second issue of the Portuguese International Academic Journal “Orientes do Português”, co-founded by the Macao Polytechnic Institute and the University of Porto in Portugal, is now officially available online. The special issue commemorates the late master of Portuguese linguistics, Professor João Malaca Casteleiro (1936-2020), and contains a wide range of entries, including articles from well-known Lusophone and Chinese universities such as the University of Porto in Portugal, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Sun Yat-sen University, Macao Polytechnic Institute, as well as from the world’s top universities such as the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The volume is available online.

Chinese Vice Premier stresses developing major Greater Bay Area cooperation platforms

Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng has called for steadily developing major cooperation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, in a meeting attended by Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam and Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Ho Iat Seng. Greater Bay Area establishes international IT association

Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao jointly launched the Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Information Technology Association, which aims to boost the development and application of information technology (IT), enhance regional connectivity, nurture young IT engineers, and push for cross-boundary data and digital Renminbi in the GBA by establishing big data and financial technology expert groups, among other objectives.
