In order to strengthen the academic exchanges in design education between Macao and  Great Bay Area, the Faculty of Arts and Design of Macao Polytechnic University held a seminar on “Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Design”. Liu Zaixing, Coordinator of Department of Industrial and Interaction Design of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, was invited to give the seminar to expand the students’ visions of artificial intelligence and innovative design, also to enhance the understandings of innovative technologies. The seminar received a warm response.

The research interests of Liu Zaixing cover human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence applications. He has published core journal papers and books and hosted over scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels or above. Liu Zaixing introduced generative AI as a medium of artistic creation. By sharing generative AI creation cases in various fields, he shared about its inspiration for modern society and designers, design thinking and creative development for the future. The seminar was hosted by Associate Professor Lei Cheng Cheong, Programme Coordinator of the Master of Interdisciplinary Arts. Liu Zaixing also had an academic exchanges the teachers of the Faculty of Arts and Design about the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching, creative ethics and other issues.

The aims of the Master programme of Interdisciplinary Arts of Macao Polytechnic University are to cultivate professionals with international vision with interdisciplinary artistic thinking and practice ability, also to serve the community. The programme combines the interdisciplinary concepts of visual arts, design and music to cultivate graduates on artistic and humanistic qualities, art-related research skills, and abilities in creative practice research for the development of Macao and the Greater Bay Area.
