MPU FAD Holds Forum on Interdisciplinary Arts Research and Practice

The Master of Interdisciplinary Arts Programme at the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held a “Forum on Interdisciplinary Arts Research and Practice”. Associate Professor Sylvia Xihui Liu, from the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Associate Professor Florence Cheung, from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and Professor Dai Baisheng, from the FAD of MPU were invited to be guest speakers to interpret and share the interdisciplinary arts research results and works. In addition, five outstanding alumni, and the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts students were invited to share their research, which stimulated enthusiasm for artistic diversity and in-depth explorations.

This forum focused on the dialogue and understanding of interdisciplinary arts research and practice to provide an exchange platform for teachers and students, promote intellectual exchanges and artistic innovation across different art fields, improve students’ critical thinking and reasoning abilities, further broaden academic horizons, and inspire academic research ideas and methods.

The Master of Interdisciplinary Arts Programme at the FAD of MPU aims to cultivate arts and design professionals with one specialization and multiple abilities in “interdisciplinary artistic thinking”, and “practice of interdisciplinary arts”. The programme integrates the interdisciplinary concepts of the visual arts, design and music, nurturing the master students’ artistic and humanistic literacy, art-related research skills as well as creativity, exhibition planning and marketing management abilities.
