MPU FAD Holds Multi-Channel Video Arts Production Seminar

The Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme, Faculty of Arts and Design at MPU, cordially invited artist Yuan Keru as a guest speaker as a guest speaker for a talk entitled “Multi-channel Video and Polyphonic Narrative”. In this seminar, the artist shared about exploring the artistic quality, spatial rhythms and narratives in video; using narrative films to present the plight of individuals throughout history; and working with multi-channel video to develop creative ideas., Teachers and students benefited a lot from the seminar.

Artist Yuan Keru graduated with an MFA from the School of Inter Media Art, China Academy of Art. She won the RanRan Art Award in 2023, and was nominated for the Jimei × Arles Discovery Award in 2022 and the AAC Award of Art China in 2018. Her artistic creation focuses on exploring the spatial rhythm and narratives of images, combining the events and emotions experienced in the present with history, myths, and dreams, and breaking the textual structure by researching and writing fiction to give images a sense of cinematography and dramatic colour.

Throughout this seminar, the students gained an in-depth understanding of the presentation formats and production processes of video, breaking away from the traditional single-screen viewing method. They explored the possibilities of various narrative approaches in imaging, which provided rich inspiration and substantial assistance for their future creations. They have become more confident in facing creative challenges and look forward to incorporating diverse visual languages into their work to enhance the depth and breadth of their artistic expression.

The Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme aims to nurture high-calibre media arts professionals via a curriculum accentuating multidisciplinary learning across arts, design, and technology. Students develop their communication skills, international vision, intercultural understanding, and innovative thinking while acquiring media arts knowledge and skills in the areas of game interaction, technological art, and video narrative. Students are given internship opportunities to keep pace with the latest developments of cultural and creative industries as they prepare to become media arts professionals.
