MPU FAD Hosts Lecture on Sustainable Development of Arts with Technology
To promote interdisciplinary exchanges and innovations in art and technology, the Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme, Faculty of Arts and Design at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), held the “When Arts Meet Technology - Sustainable Development Seminar” and invited Man Chi Wah, Associate Professor of Teaching Programme and Director of the Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, as a guest speaker. Through his personal creative experience, he shared with the students and teachers of MPU how to integrate knowledge and create artworks between academics and professions in order to realize the sustainable development of art creation in the face of the progress and challenges of the digital era, all of which benefited the students and teachers a great deal.
Prof. Man combined his own experience in exploring the relationship between traditional media and new media arts, and he shared his creative experience in integrating traditional art techniques such as oil painting and printmaking with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, thereby enhancing the depth of artistic expression. Through this seminar, students were inspired to develop innovative thinking and interdisciplinary cooperation in the integration of technology and arts, and to inject new momentum into the sustainable development of Macao's cultural and creative industries.
The MPU FAD Media Arts Programme aims to nurture high-calibre media arts professionals via a curriculum accentuating multidisciplinary learning across arts, design and technology. Students develop their skills and creativity while acquiring media arts knowledge and skills in the areas of game interaction, technological art and video narrative. Through the blended learning on theory and practice, students are cultivated to bring innovation to society through the media arts profession.
