MPU FAD Holds a Cultural and Creative Lecture and Workshop to Explore Sustainable Urban Development
To enhance students’ professional competence, creative thinking skills, and broaden their innovative horizons, Cultural and Creative Industries Teaching and Research Centre (CPCICC), the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised an “Exploring Architecture in the Digital Age” cultural creative salon seminar and workshop. The guest speaker, Associate Professor Chaihua, from the Planning, College of Architecture and Urban, Tongji University, discusseed the application of digital technology in architectural art design and its implications for urban sustainable development. The event’s lively atmosphere attracted teachers and students from MPU and several secondary schools.
During the cultural creative salon seminar, Professor Chaihua shared design cases and engaged in interactive discussions with teachers and students, delving deeply into the profound impact of digital technology on architectural design. He said that the arrival of the digital age meant the process of architectural design had undergone a fundamental transformation. The emergence of digital tools such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Virtual Reality (VR) had enhanced design efficiency and expanded the boundaries of creativity. These technologies are enabling architects to conduct more in-depth simulations and analyses during the design phase, thereby improving the functionality and aesthetics of buildings.
The “Exploring Architectural Art in the Digital Age” cultural creative workshop further showcased the influence and application of digital technology in architectural art design, allowing students to experience the first-hand tools and processes of digital architectural design. Through hands-on activities, the students gained a deeper understanding of the critical role of digital technology in architectural art design and grasped the latest trends in contemporary architectural design.
The Cultural and Creative Industries Teaching and Research Centre at MPU will continue organising a series of art education activities, aiming to further advance the development of the cultural and creative industries while nurturing a new generation of artistic talents in Macao to build a creative and sustainable urban cultural environment for Macao.
