MPU Student Fong Man Hou Wins Gold Medal in the Men’s Team Kata (Amateurs) Mass Participation Event at the 15th National Games

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, presided at the awards ceremony for the Men’s Team Kata (Amateurs) Mass Participation Event at the 15th National Games

The 15th National Games was jointly held by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and the first mass participation karate event in Macao was successfully held on the first day of the Games. Fong Man Hou, a student from the Bachelor of Physical Education programme at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), represented Macao in the Men’s Team Karate Mass Participation Event. Displaying unwavering determination and striving for excellence, he overcame numerous strong competitors and secured a remarkable score of 42.7 in the final, earning the first gold medal for the Macao team in this year’s event and bringing honour to both MPU and Macao.

MPU Rector Marcus Im expressed his warm congratulations on this achievement, praising Fong’s outstanding performance, spirit of perseverance, and willingness to face challenges. MPU actively promotes student participation in high-level national and international competitions, fostering well-rounded sports talent and contributing to the peak development of sports in Macao and empowering the high-quality advancement of national sports through the efforts of its youth.
