About the Faculty

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports strives to cultivate high-standard professionals in Health Sciences, Sports and Physical Education via its provision of the following degree programmes: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Technology (Medical Laboratory Technology / Pharmacy Technology), Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Therapy, Bachelor of Physical Education, Master of Science in Nursing (Nursing Specialty and Research Orientation), and Master of Science in Sports and Physical Education.

In 2017 a successful International Subject Review (ISR) of the BSc programme in Nursing was conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, UK. In the same year, the Bachelor of Physical Education programme received a successful academic review conducted by the Higher Education Evaluation & Accreditation Council of Taiwan. Both programmes were the first of their kinds in Macao having successfully gone through internationally recognised academic reviews. The BSc programme in Nursing was even the first ISR-reviewed programme worldwide. The Bachelor of Physical Education programme, whose students are often medalists in international competitions, is committed to cultivating outstanding sports talents.

The Faculty boasts an academic team well-versed in teaching, research, coaching, and clinical practices, as well as a learning environment equipped with a comprehensive series of laboratories, to assist students to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in respective fields. Long-term collaborative relationships have been sustained with higher education institutions at home and abroad, enabling a diversity of academic exchange and collaborative activities at the Faculty. Such examples include joint programmes with Shanghai University of Sports, Chung Shan Medical University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Portuguese Polytechnics Coordinating Council, student exchange programmes and overseas internship schemes.

Graduates' career prospects are excellent, with most of them serving as registered nurses, technicians, speech-language therapists, teachers, coaches and professional athletes. Graduates may also pursue postgraduate education at the MPU or articulate to relevant postgraduate studies at Monash University, RMIT University, University of Illinois etc.
