MPU Faculty and Students Enthusiastically Support Torch Relay, Lighting up the National Games with High Spirits and Flames

The 15th National Games is going to open grandly, and MPU faculty and students actively attended the torch relay and cheered for the torchbearers with the warmest applause. Several MPU students and alumni served as the torchbearers in the Macao competition zone, escorting the sacred flame to its destination. Professor Marcus Im Sio Kei, Rector of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), Lou Kit Long and Chao Hio Tong, members of the Sports Committee, together with a large number of students, attended the torch relay to show their support, joy and enthusiasm, lighting up the National Games with high spirits and flames.

Im Sio Kei remarked, “The University fully supports the National Games. In serving as torchbearers, competing athletes, and organising volunteers, MPU students demonstrate the spirit of striving forward and have set a good example for teachers and students. I wish for the athletes to reach their best in the competitions, showcasing the spirit of MPU.”
Zhang Yang Yang, a doctoral student, torchbearer of the 15th National Games torch relay in the Macao competition zone, and gold medallist of the Beijing Olympic Games shared that, “As a child, I often saw torch relays on television. I have never imagined that one day I would be holding the torch myself. Becoming a torchbearer of the 15th National games is like a dream coming true. At the moment the flame was lit, I felt its warmth and the expectations of perseverance deep inside the heart of everyone. In the future, I will bring this spirit into my work and life, passing on its passion and strength by living up to this precious trust.”
