This course examines contemporary development of capitalism in terms of international
economic relations, the international monetary system and its evolution, and the
internationalization of capital and multinationals. An analysis of overseas connections
will be carried out, particularly in relations to national and international businesses and
the institutional fabric in the context of the evolution of economics that is becoming
increasingly globalized.

Relation between China and the
Portuguese-Speaking Countries
This course will help students acquire a basic knowledge of the history of Macao from
both Chinese and Portuguese perspectives, including the administrative history of
Macao, from its earliest origins to the Special Administrative Region of the People’s
Republic of China. In doing so the students will also become familiar with the literature
of Macao in Chinese, Portuguese and Patuá (Macanese Creole), including main authors
and works of reference as well as the culture of Macao and its characteristic
interculturality as a unique multi-cultural meeting point between East and West.
HIST3112 Chinese History and Culture 3 45 hrs ---
With this course, we aim essentially at making an overview of Chinese History from its
beginning to the present day, stressing the international contacts made and the
international trade established, as well as its culture, with a focus on political, social and
philosophical thought. For a better understanding of today’s China will be highlighted
the historical period from the Qing Dynasty up to the present time.
HIST3113 History and Culture of Portuguese- 3 45 hrs ---
Speaking Countries (CPLP)
With the History and Culture of Portuguese-Speaking Countries course we intend
essentially to outline the History of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau,
Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor in the period preceding
the formation of their nation status and the building of the country up to this date, with
a focus on the 20th Century and the first decade of the 21st Century.
LLAW3111 General Theory of Law and Contract 3 45 hrs ---
Law in General
With this course our purpose is for the students to acquire legal knowledge concerning
natural and legal persons, movable and immovable assets, legal situations, legal
relationships and subjective rights. We also aim to present the basic principles of Civil
Law and explain the main legislation of the countries and regions involved in bilateral
international trade, the subject of this Degree, emphasizing the enormous importance
of a knowledge of Contract law for the development of this sector of economic activity.
A comparative study of concepts and legislation will be carried out.
