                             To equip students with the concepts and applications of clinical pharmacy. Based on the
                             knowledge of pharmacology, students can recognize the relationship of drug effects and
                             disease  management,  and  have  a  better  understanding  of  their  clinical  applications.
                             Contents: This course systematically introduces clinical pharmacy based on the clinical
                             treatments and applications of drugs on various diseases, including central nervous system
                             diseases,  cardiovascular  diseases,  gastrointestinal  diseases,  respiratory  diseases,
                             genitourinary diseases, endocrine diseases and malignant carcinomas.

                             To equip students with the principles and methods for health education and promotion.
                             Contents:  Theory  in  health  education  and  promotion;  Health  behaviour;  Health
                             communication;  Health  assessment;  Health  education  intervention  planning  and
                             evaluation; Health promotion in school, community; Healthy city; Health education and
                             promotion in Macao.
                 BSPK3102    Pharmacokinetics                  2       30 hrs    ---

                             To  introduce  students  with  the  basic  theories  of  pharmacokinetics,  a  study  of  the
                             relationship  between  time  and  drug  content  after  administration,  focusing  on  the
                             applications of drugs “tracking”. This course is also aimed to cultivate students with the
                             ability  to  produce  patient  individualized  drug  therapy.  Contents:  Drug  plasma
                             concentration; drug monitoring; pharmacokinetic model; drug distribution; elimination
                             rate  constant;  drug  plasma  half-life;  drug  clearance;  drug  absorption  kinetics;
                             pharmacokinetic parameters calculation; clinical techniques of pharmacokinetics; single-
                             point method and repeat single-point method of dosage prediction; application of clinical
                             pharmacokinetics on dosage adjustment in patients with renal failure.

                             To  equip  students  with  the  knowledge  of  laws  and  regulations  relating  to  the

                             pharmaceutical  professionals  and  businesses  in  Macao.  Contents:  Pharmacy  laws  in
                             Macao;  Laws  and  regulations  for  pharmaceutical  professionals,  businesses  and  drugs
                             registrations; Laws and regulations for traditional Chinese medicines, narcotic drugs and
                             psychotic drugs.

                             To equip students with the essential knowledge on diagnosing and managing common
                             minor  ailments  with  appropriate  over-the-counter  (OTC)  medicines  and  counseling.
                             Contents:  Role  of  community  pharmacy  in  primary  care  and  health  promotion;
                             Classification and utilization of OTC medicines; Pharmacological and non-pharmacological
                             counseling in minor ailment, including eye, ear, skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal tract
                             problems,  pain  management,  women’s  health,  childhood  conditions,  insomnia  and
                             prevention of heart disease.
                 BSPP3102    Pharmacy Practice III             3       45 hrs    ---
                             This  subject  is  designed  to  provide  an  introduction  to  drug  use  evaluation  and  other
                             advanced practice in pharmacy. Contents: Public health in pharmacy, drug use evaluation
                             (DUE)  in  community  and  hospital  settings,  adverse  drug  reaction  (ADR)  reporting
                             programs, pharmacoeconomics, advanced drug information, patient counseling services,
                             and various outpatient clinics in which pharmacy professionals are involved, etc.
