CHIN4124 Communication in Chinese II 3 45 hrs CHIN4123
This course is a continuation of Communication in Chinese I. It familiarizes students with
the techniques of oral and written communication in Chinese through extensive training
on aspects such as speech, debate, interview, dialogue and hosting, so as to further
enhance their comprehensive ability of expression.
HIST4100 Introduction to Contemporary China 3 45 hrs ---
This course aims to help students understand and know China in a more comprehensive
way. It mainly introduces the basic national situation of China, including geology and living
environment, history, culture and educational technology, economic development and
national power, social phenomena and focal issues, and political system and governmental
operation.
HIST4101 History and Culture of Macao 3 45 hrs ---
This course aims to help students achieve a comprehensive understanding of Macao. It
introduces the history of Macao since the end of the Ming Dynasty, the positive role
Macao played in modern Chinese history and in China’s cultural exchange with the West,
colonialism and Sino-Portuguese relations in the Ming and Qing dynasties, Macao’s urban
development, arts, handicraft industry, borders, and the development of the Catholic
Church.

ENGL3113 English Writing I* 2 30 hrs ---
This course aims to develop students' ability to analyze different genres of English texts so
as to cultivate their proficiency in English writing through various corresponding writing
exercises.
PORT3115 Portuguese Writing I* 2 30 hrs ---
This course teaches students how to write applied documents applicable for different
social affairs in Portuguese. Students are expected to communicate in written Portuguese
in a clear, objective, professional and creative way.
ENGL3114 English Writing II* 2 30 hrs ENGL3113
This course, as a continuation of English Writing I, aims to further enhance students'
proficiency in writing Chinese through writing exercises of various genres.
PORT3116 Portuguese Writing II* 2 30 hrs PORT3115
This course, as a continuation of Portuguese Writing I, aims to teach students how to write
applied documents applicable for different social affairs in Portuguese. Students are
expected to communicate in written Portuguese in a clear, objective, professional and
creative way.
TRAN3109 Portuguese-Chinese Translation 2 30 hrs ---
This course introduces different translation theories and approaches. Students are
required to translate Portuguese texts of various genres into Chinese and study related
cultural and rhetorical issues. Upon completion of this course, students will better
understand the characteristics of Portuguese-Chinese translation with their translation
ability enhanced.
