                 EDUC3103    Introduction to International Chinese  3   45 hrs   ---
                             Teaching
                             This course briefly introduces to students the main theoretical framework and different

                             schools of the second language teaching. The analysis of textbooks, teaching evaluation
                             and  graded  testing  methodology  regarding  teaching  as  a  second  language  are  also
                             included. The students are expected to understand the development of teaching Chinese
                             as a second language and the relevant research to lay a good theoretical foundation for
                             teaching Chinese as a second language in the future.
                 EDUC3104    Design  and  Practice  of  International  2   30 hrs   ---
                             Chinese Teaching
                             This course focuses on both explanation and practice. It teaches students with concrete

                             cases  how  to  design  different  teaching  plans  for  Chinese  learners  at  elementary,
                             intermediate and advanced levels and how to train the different linguistic skills such as
                             listening, speaking, reading and writing. The students are expected to grasp the different
                             teaching methods and have the practical ability to organize and manage class activities.

                             This course aims to enhance students’ English reading ability and writing skills. Works,

                             descriptive  in  nature,  extracted  from  various  sources  are  employed  to  enhance  their
                             cultural  sensitivity,  illustrate  various  reading  skills  and  descriptive  writing  techniques.
                             Apart from the receptive and productive skills, the course further enlarges the students’
                             vocabulary and enhances their language accuracy.

                             The course aims to further develop students’ English reading and writing skills. Narrative

                             texts are employed to further illustrate various reading skills, narrative writing techniques
                             and structures. Apart from the receptive and productive skills, the course further enlarges
                             the students’ vocabulary, increases their language accuracy and enhances their cultural
                             sensitivity.

                             The goal of this course is to further develop students’ reading comprehension and writing

                             proficiency. Through extensive reading and analyses of Portuguese texts concerned with
                             social phenomena and cultural life, the students are expected to improve their ability to
                             express themselves in fluent Portuguese.
                 PORT3118    Advanced Portuguese II            4       60 hrs     PORT3117
                             This course is a  continuation of Advanced Portuguese I. The  goal of this course is to

                             reinforce students’ reading comprehension and writing proficiency. Through extensive
                             reading and analyses of Portuguese texts concerned with social phenomena and cultural
                             life, the students will be able to enhance their ability to express themselves in fluent
                             Portuguese. Upon completion of this course, the students are expected to have attained
                             intermediate Portuguese proficiency.
