Macao Polytechnic University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GUFS) have collaboratively launched the dual BA-BSc degree programme in Translation and Computer Science. This programme aims to nurture interdisciplinary innovative talents for the new era. The opening ceremony was held on 5 September 2023 welcoming the first cohort of 95 students.
The dual degree programme in translation and computer science serves as a significant outcome of MPU’s active participation in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The project is designed to cultivate interdisciplinary talents for the Greater Bay Area and the “Belt and Road” initiative while advancing the development of higher education in both regions. The programme aims to bring forth significant contribution to enhancing academic and cultural exchanges and collaborations within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The curriculum of the dual degree programme feature computer science and language science. Delivered by an international academic team selected from both universities, the programme adopts a “3+1” dual degree model that consists of three years of study in Guangzhou and one year in Macao. It aligns with the national and Macao higher education quality assurance systems collaboratively nurturing interdisciplinary, integrated, and international innovative talents. The inaugural ceremony for this joint venture took place earlier in June at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and was presided by MPU Rector Im Sio Kei and GUFS Rector Shi Youqi.
