“EDUCATION + TOURISM” PROJECT LAUNCHES

Macao Polytechnic University and the Association of Macao Tourist Agents officially launched their joint project on “Education + Tourism” on 19 June. The goal of this project is to combine educational services with the tourism industry to meet the international and national-level examination and certification demands of Southeast Asia and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in support of the Macao Examination and Certification Centre at MPU.

At the launching ceremony, Rector Im Sio Kei stated that the University will continue to expand the provision of international and national-level examination and certification services, building an examination and certification centre in Macao. Closer collaboration between the University and the Association of Macao Tourist Agents and relevant industries are anticipated, leveraging the synergy of education and tourism development to attract more students and tourists to Macao. This approach can help diversify the visitor base of Macao and further bolster Macao’s overall competitiveness in the tourism and leisure industry.

Chair of Association of Macao Tourist Agents Cheung Kin Chung emphasised that this project marks a milestone in cross-sectoral collaboration contributing to Macao’s development as an exchange and collaboration hub where cultures coexist with the Chinese culture at the forefront. The “Education + Tourism” brand could be further expanded with the joint efforts from the industries and the quality education and research delivered by the University. This will be helpful for establishing Macao as an exemplary location where education, culture and tourism link and thrive, moving forward with its being a global centre for tourism and leisure.

A cooperation framework agreement has been signed earlier among Macao Polytechnic University, the Association of Macao Tourist Agents, and the Macau Hoteliers and Innkeepers Association to strengthen tripartite collaboration in areas such as smart tourism, education and training, technological innovation, and talent cultivation.
