                CHIN2132    Introduction to Literature        3       45 hrs   ---
                            This  course  mainly  talks  about  the  general  laws  of  literary  activities,  involving  many

                            interconnected  factors,  such  as  the  nature  of  literary  activities,  literary  creation  and
                            reception of literary works. The occurrence and development of literary phenomena will
                            be discussed from the perspective of historical development. The main contents of this
                            course include theories on literary concepts, literary works, literary creation, reception,
                            origin and development. This is a very theoretical course, however, at the  same time,
                            the theories are to be interconnected with literary works.

                EDUC2100    Educational Psychology            2       30 hrs   ---
                            This  course  aims  to  familiarize  students  with  the  basic  theories  of  educational

                            psychology in a systematic way. The students are expected to make use of the related
                            theories  to  guide  the  teaching  practices.  The  main  contents  of  this  course  include:
                            psychology of students and teachers (personality development of students, individual
                            differences  of  students  and  their  measurement  and  assessment,  and  professional
                            qualities and psychological health of teachers) , theories of learning (cognitive theory of
                            learning,  behaviorism,  constructivism  and  humanistic  theory  of  learning),  learning
                            psychology  (motivations  of  learning,  knowledge  construction,  problem  solving  and
                            creation,  and  moralities  learning),  educational  psychology  (effective  learning,  class
                            assessment and class management). Particular emphasis is laid upon the theories and
                            psychology  of  learning,  and  the  individual  differences  and  their  measurement  and
                            assessment.

                            This course aims to develop and strengthen students’ receptive and productive skills in
                            written  English.  Emphasis  is  laid  upon  enlarging  the  students’  vocabulary,  developing
                            their  comprehension  skills,  and  improving  their  skills  in  writing  a  paragraph.  Upon
                            completion  of  this  course,  the  students  are  expected  to  understand  and  create
                            grammatically and syntactically correct sentences within a well-organized paragraph.
                ENGL2114    Advanced English II               3       45 hrs   ENGL2113

                            This course aims to further develop and strengthen students’ receptive and productive
                            skills in written English. Emphasis is laid  upon applying analytical and critical reading
                            skills to a variety of texts and upon writing expository essays. Upon completion of this
                            course,  the  students  are  expected  to  recognize  and  use  various  patterns  of  text
                            organization to compose effective essays.
                PORT2117    Intermediate Portuguese I         4       60 hrs   PORT1118
                            The goal of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of the Portuguese

                            language at lexical, morphological, syntactic and semantic levels. Particular emphasis is
                            laid upon vocabulary building and grammar acquisition through reading original texts on
                            current affairs, society, culture, politics and economy.

                            This  course,  as  a  continuation  of  Intermediate  Portuguese  I,  aims  to  further  provide
                            students  with  basic  knowledge  of  the  Portuguese  language  at  lexical,  morphological,
                            syntactic, and semantic levels. Particular emphasis is laid upon vocabulary building and
                            grammar acquisition through reading original texts on current affairs, society, culture,
                            politics and economy.
