                             To  provide  students  with  an  understanding  of  different  aspects  of  fluency  disorders.
                             Contents: Topics include definitions of stuttering, diagnosis and management of fluency
                             disorders in children and adults.
                 STLD2101      Language Development            3       45 hrs    ---
                             To  equip  students  with  the  basic  knowledge  of  language  development  in  infants  and
                             children, as well as the skills for observation and documentation. Contents: Topics include
                             infant  communication,  phonological  development,  semantic  development,  pragmatic
                             development,  individual  differences  in  language  development,  atypical  language
                             development and disorders, theories of language development, and cross-cultural child
                             development, etc.
                 STPR2102      Basic  Practicum  in  Speech  Language  2   30 hrs   ---
                             Pathology
                             To equip students with the clinical knowledge and skills necessary for their future practice.
                             Contents: Through practicum experience, students will develop a better understanding of
                             the features and management of speech-language disorders in children. They will also
                             receive training on language sample analysis.

                             To provide students with a broad understanding of special education and children with
                             special needs. Contents: This course focuses on children with intellectual disabilities, visual
                             impairment, hearing impairment, speech and language impairment, emotional disorders,
                             autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and developmental delay, etc.
                 STSS2101      Speech Science                  3       45 hrs    ---
                             To introduce students to the fundamentals and clinical applications of speech science.
                             Contents:  Topics  include  the  nature  of  sound,  attributes  of  sounds,  the  relationship
                             between parameters in physics and perception, phonatory system, articulatory system,
                             auditory system, perception of speech, and clinical applications of speech science, etc.
                 STST2101      Statistics                      2       30 hrs    ---

                             To equip students with an understanding of health survey, research protocol and statistical
                             analysis.  Contents:  Topics  include  concepts  and  general  terms  in  statistics,  descriptive
                             statistics, quantitative statistics, normal distribution, regression and correlation, t-test, chi
                             square test, basic knowledge and applications of the  SPSS software, and discussion of
                             statistical analysis.

                             Communication
                             To  introduce  students  to  the  basic  principles  and  applications  of  augmentative  and
                             alternative communication (AAC). Contents: Topics include the principles and use of AAC,
                             as well as how to use AAC for assessment and intervention.
