STET3101 Professional Issues and Ethics in 1 15 hrs ---
Speech-Language Pathology
To provide students with an understanding of professional issues and ethical standards in
speech-language therapy. Contents: This course covers speech therapists’ scope of
practice, code of ethics, professional autonomy and cooperation, conflicts of interest in
professional practice, speech-language therapy services in health care and educational
settings, and evidence-based practice, etc.
STMS3101 Motor Speech Disorders 2 30 hrs ---
To provide students with an understanding of motor speech disorders; to prepare students
to evaluate and manage communication disorders. Contents: Topics include the structures
and functions of the motor system, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of various motor
speech disorders.
STPR3101 Practicum in Communicative 2 30 hrs ---
Disorders
To provide students with experience in language and hearing screening for adults and
children. Contents: Under supervision, students will participate in clinical activities which
involve language and hearing screening.
STPR3102 Practicum in Speech-Language 3 45 hrs ---
Pathology
To equip students with the clinical knowledge and skills necessary for their future practice.
Contents: Through practicum experience, students will develop a better understanding of
assessment, goal setting, and treatment strategies for different speech-language
disorders.
STRM3102 Rehabilitation Medicine 2 30 hrs ---
To provide students with an overview of rehabilitation medicine and an understanding of
the roles of each health care professionals in a rehabilitation team. Contents: This course
covers the development and theories of rehabilitation medicine, as well as rehabilitation
for various diseases such as spine injuries, stroke, heart diseases, joint diseases, and
diseases in children, etc.
STSD3101 Swallowing Disorders 3 45 hrs ---
To equip students with a better understanding of normal and disordered swallowing.
Contents: This course focuses on anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of
oropharyngeal swallowing, as well as evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders.
STTP3101 Treatment Procedures in Speech- 2 30 hrs ---
Language Pathology
To provide students with an understanding of the basic knowledge and evidence-based
strategies of speech-language therapy. Contents: This course covers the basic skills and
procedures of speech-language therapy, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based treatment
strategies for a variety of common speech-language disorders.
