                             This course introduces the multilingual status of Macao. Through discussions on different

                             topics, students are expected to understand and know the interplay between different
                             languages and the dialect, and the related social and cultural meanings.
                 CHIN3126    Guided Reading of Chinese Classics   3    45 hrs    ---
                             Human wisdom has been the most beautiful and powerful driving force in the long history
                             of  social  development.  Reading  the  classic  works  left  by  the  sages  of  the  past  will
                             undoubted  bring  about  deep  enlightenment  and  encouragement.  This  course  guides
                             students  in  reading  the  classic  Chinese  works  regarding  religion,  philosophy,  history,
                             language,  literature,  arts  and  social  development.  Subject  to  the  actual  needs  of  the
                             students and the course, further readings and discussions on inter-textuality are to be
                             covered to help them understand Chinese thoughts, culture and society in a deeper and
                             more comprehensive way.
                 CHIN3127    Appreciation  of  the  Tang  Dynasty  2   30 hrs    ---
                             Poetry
                             This course aims to familiarize students with the Chinese poetry during the Tang Dynasty,
                             the golden era of ancient Chinese poetry. The famous poems by famous poets during the
                             initial, the most prosperous, middle and late periods of the Tang Dynasty are selected for
                             this  course.  Particular  emphasis  is  laid  upon  analyzing  the  representative  poems  of
                             different  categories  and  themes  from  the  aspects  of  thought  and  artistic  value.  This
                             course hopes to cultivate the students' esthetic sentiment and appreciation ability for
                             poetry.
                 CHIN3128    Comercial Writing                 2       30 hrs    ---

                             This course aims to teach students how to write applied documents in general commercial
                             situations. Emphasis is laid upon practical writing exercises such as abstracts, proposals,
                             reports and letters. Students are required to take part in case studies and mock practices
                             regarding commercial texts of various categories.

                 CHIN3129    Media and Society                 2       30 hrs    ---
                             This  course  aims  to  guide  students  in  thinking  about  the  complicated  relationship

                             between mass media and modern society, particularly the overall shaping of new media
                             in the web era on public discourse space and the deep penetration into the fields such as
                             politics, ideology, culture, education, religion and arts. The main contents of this course
                             include categorical evolution and transmission routes of mass media, digitalized existence
                             and the main characteristics of new media, media ethics of the internet society and media
                             culture, new media and popular culture, new media and mass consumption, new media
                             and private living space, and media policies in the era of new media.

                 EDUC3101    Teaching Fieldwork I              3       60 hrs    ---
                             Those who want to obtain the teacher's certificate for non-tertiary teachers recognized
                             by Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau have to take part in the field work in the
                             third  or  fourth  year  of  their  study  in  an  educational  institution  recognized  by  Macao
                             Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. The students are expected to apply the professional
                             knowledge and skills that they have learned to their field work, and combine theories
                             with practices in order to lay a good foundation for becoming a professional teacher of
                             Chinese language.
