The MIA Portugal research team led by the Rector of University of Coimbra visited MPU
In order to strengthen the higher education cooperation between Portugal and Macao, the research team of the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA) Portugal, led by Prof. Amílcar Falcão, Rector, University of Coimbra, visited the Macao Polytechnic University on June 7, 2024, and had in-depth academic exchanges and discussions with Lam Chan Tong, Acting Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Tong H. Y. Henry, Director, Centre for Artificial Intelligence Driven Drug Discovery, Prof. Liu Huanxiang, Prof. Yao Xiaojun, Prof. Guo Jingjing, Associate Prof. Siu Weng In, Shirley and Lecturer Ye Zhuyifan.
During the meeting, Prof. Tong H. Y. Henry gave an overall introduction to the research team and research results of our centre, and proposed potential cooperation directions at multiple levels. Then, Prof. Yao Xiaojun, Prof. Guo Jingjing, Associate Prof. Siu Weng In, Shirley and Lecturer Ye Zhuyifan further introduced the research and application of our centre in the field of treatment of ageing-related diseases using artificial intelligence methods.
Afterwards, Amílcar Falcão, Rector of the University of Coimbra, expressed his gratitude to all the teachers, and his strong recognition and affirmation of the research work of our centre, and his intention to cooperate with Centre for Artificial Intelligence Driven Drug Discovery, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Macao Polytechnic University. Prof. Manuel Santos, Director, Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing, University of Coimbra, also introduced the situation of their research institute, including multiple research directions for ageing, their research teams, and their future development plans.
Finally, Lam Chan Tong expressed his gratitude to Amílcar Falcão and his research group in MIA-Portugal again, and summed up. Through this meeting, two sides reached a consensus on cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the future cooperation between the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing of the University of Coimbra and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Driven Drug Discovery, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Macao Polytechnic University.
