Macao Polytechnic University Published an Advanced Review Article in a Top Journal of Computational Mathematics

In recent years, computational simulation methods have significantly enhanced our microscopic understanding of the structure, dynamics, and functionality of biological membranes. Professor Guo Jingjing, Professor Liu Huanxiang, and Dr. Li Shu from the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Macao Polytechnic University, in collaboration with Professor Mu Yuguang from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, published a comprehensive review article titled "Application of computational approaches in biomembranes: From structure to function" in the esteemed journal Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews: Computational Molecular Science (CiteScore: 20.1; Impact Factor: 11.4) in July 2023 (WIREs Comput Mol Sci. 2023. e1679. https://doi.org/10.1002/wcms.1679). Professor Guo Jingjing is the first author, and the journal is ranked No. 1 in Computational Mathematics. 

The article provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research advancements in computational methods relevant to biological membranes. It presents an overview of the latest advancements in related computational approaches, from force fields and model construction to MD simulations and trajectory analysis. Additionally, it delves into the current research hotspots and challenges in the application of computational methods in studying biomembranes, while also providing insights into future research directions. The aim of this article is to assist readers in understanding the potential and limitations of emerging computational techniques in the study of biological membrane systems and to offer valuable suggestions for future research endeavors.
