Insurance

Eligibility for Accident Insurance
  • All students, including exchange students enrolled at the University, receive accident insurance coverage upon enrolment, with no separate application submission required.
Coverage of Accident Insurance
  • (1) Bodily injuries sustained by students during classes/ University activities in Macao;
  • (2) Bodily injuries sustained by students during usual travel to and from the University, usual travel means one hour before or after scheduled classes;
  • (3) Injuries sustained by students driving motor vehicles to/ from classes or University activities in Macao;
  • (4) Bodily injuries sustained by students while participating in University-organised activities outside Macao (e.g. participating in classes/ competitions/ exchange programmes/ visits).
Institutions covered under Accident Insurance
  • The Conde de São Januário Hospital, all Health Centres under the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Kiang Wu Hospital, Macao University of Science and Technology Hospital, and all Western medicine doctors, Chinese medicine doctors, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and physiotherapists* registered with the Health Bureau are all approved medical institutions under the Accident Insurance. (*Physiotherapist must be referred by or recommended by attending physician.)
Maximum coverage limit per person per accident
  • The maximum coverage limit for disability or death caused by an accident per person is MOP300,000, and the maximum coverage limit for medical expenses per person per accident is MOP8,000 generally.
Reimbursement procedures after an accident
  • Students must seek medical treatment on the same day the accident occurs and submit the required documents, including copies of ID card and student ID card, the original receipt from the initial medical visit, and a completed “Accident Insurance Claim Form”, to the Student Affairs Office within 8 days after the accident.
  • Upon recovery, students must submit the following original documents to the Student Affairs Office within 8 days: original medical recovery certificate, original medical certificate, and all original medical receipts.
  • After the insurance company approves the claim, the reimbursement amount will be paid by cheque.
