A delegation led by Yan Xiangbin, President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), visited Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and was warmly received by Rector Im Sio Kei. Both parties held in-depth discussions in a cordial atmosphere on topics such as innovative cooperation, talent cultivation, and joint research.

Rector Im remarked that MPU and GDUFS have a long history of cooperation with outstanding achievements. With the support of the Macao SAR Government and the Ministry of Education of China, the two universities jointly offer the dual BA-BSc degree programme in Translation and Computer Science, the first interdisciplinary double degree program between universities in Guangdong and Macao, which has been popular with students. Having the advantages of both universities in innovative technology and translation, this programme cultivates talents for the new era and exemplifies the deepening higher education cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. MPU will continue to collaborate with GDUFS, leveraging the academic strengths of both universities to establish a deeper partnership and contribute to building China into an education powerhouse.

President Yan expressed gratitude for MPU’s warm reception and introduced the achievements of GDUFS in artificial intelligence, Portuguese language education, and economics and management. He noted that universities in the Greater Bay Area each have their strengths; GDUFS boasts rich experience in multilingual talent cultivation and an international cooperation network, while MPU is deeply committed to interdisciplinary scientific innovation and promoting Sino-Portuguese higher education exchange and cooperation. He expressed the hope that through this visit, the two universities could complement each other's strengths to not only cultivate high-quality, internationally-minded, innovative, and multidisciplinary talents proficient in languages, but also explore more diverse academic collaborations.
