Established in 1989, the Han Suyin International Translation Contest is the longest-established, largest and most influential organized translation contest in China, being loved and well recognized by young translators across the country and abroad. The event this year includes 20 competition categories, covering translation from Chinese into ten foreign languages, among which, Portuguese and Italian are included for the first time in this year's contest. A total of 32,999 valid translations were received.

Liu Wenjing said that the Han Suyin International Translation Contest has always been a great arena for translation students and amateurs to explore the fascination of translation. Nowadays, the exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries have become much closer, and translators play an important mediating role in this process. The awards gave her great encouragement. She hopes to follow her heart and practice more in the translation field and contribute to the exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Guo Yan said that as an amateur and a student of Chinese-Portuguese translation, it was a great honor and encouragement for her to participate in such a highly influential translation contest and win the prize. She will continue her best in her future Chinese-Portuguese translation work.
