MPI Students Studied National Affairs in Beijing

MPI students studied national affairs in Beijing

For the purpose of enhancing students' understanding of national affairs, improving their political acumen and analytical capabilities, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) arranged students to participate in the “China Strategy” study camp organised by the Peking University. More than 130 university students from Hong Kong and Macao gathered in Beijing and conducted cultural exchanges. MPI indicates that students benefitted from this study camp since it increased their knowledge and dimensions of thinking.

Scholars of the Peking University hosted lectures related to “One Country, Two Systems”, “Sino-American Trade Relations”, “National Security” and “Competition among Powerful Nations”. The lectures deepened students' understanding of China’s politics, economy, national defense and diplomacy status. There were also Beijing city tours, in which MPI students visited Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, National Centre for the Performing Arts, etc. Also, MPI students visited the headquarters of Sina, a leading company in the national internet market, to learn the information about technology development in China.

Student Cheung of the MPI Social Work programme has learned from the lectures that in his study and life, he should have a global view, independent thinking and the ability to inspire other people. Student Ho of the Design programme said that through this study camp, she has understood the country development progress of China, and every Chinese is indispensable in establishing the country. Especially the young people, should take the responsibility of developing the country.
