Do first-year students need to submit student hostel accommodation applications?
- All first-year non-local postgraduates, and the first-year non-local undergraduates admitted through the Joint Admission Examination for Macao Four Higher Education Institutions, need to submit accommodation applications within a stated period of time. For the first-year non-local undergraduates admitted through the Nationwide Unified Examination for Admissions to General Universities and Colleges in China, the first-year accommodation will be arranged without the need for application.
What types of students can apply for accommodation in the student hostel?
- The student hostel provides basic accommodation services for registered non-local degree programme students.
What is the bed dimension in the student hostel?
- There are two types of beds: Bunk bed and loft bed; the bed dimension for reference is 200cm in length x 100cm in width.
Will bedding and daily supplies be provided while checking in at the student hostel? Does the accommodation fee include water, electricity and gas charges?
- Mattress (Reference size: 195cm in length x 90cm in width x 6cm in thickness) will be provided in the student hostel; please prepare your own bedding and daily supplies. For students admitted from the academic year 2023/2024, the accommodation fee for an academic year includes water, gas, and a basic electricity quota of 110 kWh per month.
Do I need to extend my accommodation every academic year?
- Students have to submit accommodation application every academic year within the application period stated in the hostel notice.
Can I apply for hostel accommodation in the middle of the semester?
- Except for resumption of study and returning from an exchange programme, mid-semester applications are not accepted.
How are the bed places allocated?
- Bed places are allocated according to the “MPU Student Hostel Rules”.
Can I apply to change the hostel after moving in?
- Within two months from the check-in date, you may submit a request supported by sufficient reasons for changing bed place. Upon approval, a relocation fee of MOP500 will be charged (for every single time). For the case of changing bed place in the same room, the relocation fee will still be charged. It will be regarded as a violation of the “MPU Student Hostel Rules” if a student is found to have changed bed place without approval and, those with serious violations will be forced to move out of the hostel.
Are single rooms available in the student hostel?
- Single rooms are available in the Taipa Campus Hostel, and there are shared bathrooms and kitchens. A student who would like to apply for a single room is requested to submit an individual written application for approval.
Can I forfeit my bed place and receive a refund of the accommodation fee during the accommodation period?
- During the accommodation period (i.e. before the end of accommodation period of the relevant academic year), students who decide to forfeit their bed places must submit a written application, except in the case of withdrawal, deferral and suspension of study, or for going out or completion of an exchange programme. For undergraduates, written consent of their parents or guardians must be provided. After approval, students should move out of the student hostel and complete the check-out procedure within the specific period/before deadline. The hostel deposit will be refunded after check-out; however, the accommodation fee is non-refundable.
Can I stay in the student hostel during summer holidays?
- Student should submit summer accommodation application within the application period according to the hostel notice announced every academic year.
Will the students who resume study or return from an exchange programme be automatically arranged accommodation?
- Students who resume study or return from an exchange programme should submit their own accommodation application. Please pay attention to the deadlines for tuition and accommodation fee, and submit accommodation application in advance to avoid any delays that may affect your study arrangements.
