MPU International students visit the Saint Lourenço Market to experience Macao culture

Macao Polytechnic University has actively collaborated with universities in Portuguese-speaking countries to align with the national "Belt and Road" initiative and support the development of Macao as "One Center, One Platform, and One Base". International students from around the world have been attracted to Macao for exchanges, where they not only acquire professional knowledge, but also embrace the cultural essence of Macao and China, achieving cultural diversity and integration. To further immerse international students into Macao's lifestyle, the Student Affairs Office recently organized a cultural study tour for about fifty students from countries including Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and Sao Tome. Through the tour, the students explored the Macao community in depth and experienced Macao and Chinese culture, benefiting greatly from the program.

International students explored Macao's cultural and historical landmarks, including the A-Ma Temple, S. Lourenço Market, and Tin Hau Temple, gaining first-hand experience and learning about the unique intersection of Chinese and Western cultures. Envagêlos, a student from Mozambique, found the traditional dishes and historical sites of Macao, along with the daily life of its citizens, to be an eye-opening experience that showcased a culture vastly different from his own. He believed that such activities were ideal for promoting cultural exchange. Silvia, a student from Sao Tome, appreciated the opportunity to not only learn about Macao's culture, but also to build friendships with her fellow students. She thanked the university for organizing the cultural visits, noting that such activities were an excellent way to inspire learning interest.

The Student Affairs Office at Macao Polytechnic University is dedicated to facilitating the integration of international students into local life. By organizing a diverse range of activities that appeal to students from various nationalities, the university allows international students to immerse themselves in the rich and vibrant Chinese and Macao cultures. These efforts are aimed at fostering a harmonious campus that embraces multiculturalism, while advancing the university's internationalization and talent exchange initiatives.
