From MPU to CCISP
Undergraduate students of the following Faculties: (1.) Faculty of Applied Sciences, (2.) Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports, (3.) Faculty of Arts and Design, (4.) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and (5.) Faculty of Business with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above and good command of either English or Portuguese are eligible to apply for this exchange programme.
In addition to the above general prerequisites, applicants from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports must fulfill the following conditions:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing:
a fourth-year student, or students as recommended by the Faculty.
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Technology:
students who have finished the learning module prerequisites for “Internship I” and “Internship II” (under “Year 4 Subjects”), for details please see below:

Time and DurationThis exchange programme may take place in the first and/ or the second semester of each academic year.
Degree Programmes Provided by the Host Institutes in Portugal
Online ApplicationsThe Student Affairs Office (“SAO”) will announce the results as decided by MPU in due course.
Before departing for Portugal, students must select the programme which they are going to study, and submit the following documents to SAO within a designated period of time:

- the application form;
- the acceptance letter;
- the study agreement;
- the latest academic transcript;
- a curriculum vitae (CV) ; and
- any other documents required by the host institute
VISA to Portugal
Portuguese passport holders do not need a visa. Those who hold passports issued by the Macao Special Administrative Region, or the People’s Republic of China, must obtain a visa at the Portuguese Consulate General in Macao and Hong Kong before departing for Portugal.
All documents and fees for the visa applications are to be submitted to the Portuguese Consulate General in Macao and Hong Kong (https://cgportugal.org/).The current application fee for a visa is approximately MOP745.00. (Please note that the application fee is subject to change without prior notice.)Note: Students have to prepare all the necessary documents to support their visa applications, such as their passports and ID cards.
Arrival DateStudents should arrive at the host institutes at least four working days before classes begin. This is to ensure that they have enough time to complete all the formalities, such as student registration and opening bank accounts, and to familiarize themselves with the new environment.
When students arrive at the host institutes, they must present to the registry the registration documents, including the study agreements, which should have been signed by both the students and the respective MPU Programme coordinators, for the endorsement of the host institutes.
Please note that any student who fails to present any of the registration documents, such as the application form or the study agreement (which has to be signed by the MPU Programme coordinator and the student) to the respective registries of the host institutes may be declined to be officially registered. Furthermore, they may not be allowed to attend classes and/or take part in assessments, and will not be provided with any insurance coverage.
If, during the registration process, a student would like to switch to other programme or learning modules, he or she must obtain the respective MPU programme coordinator’s approval again and submit to the host institute a revised and signed study agreement as approved by that coordinator and endorsed by the person authorized by MPU.

Expenditure for the exchange study in Portugal
Tuition fees Students only need to pay the MPU’s tuition for the semester when they go on exchange study, and there is no additional tuition payable to the host institutes. MPU’s tuition Accommodation The host institutes will provide hostel accommodation to students when they go on exchange study in Portugal. Living subsidy Each student will receive from the host institute a monthly living subsidy of approximately EUR100.00 Transportation
The host institutes will provide students with free transportation, (a) from the international airport in Lisbon / Porto / Algarve to the student hostel when they first arrive in Portugal under this programme; and (b) from the hostel to the airport when they depart for Macao at the end of the exchange programme.Bus passes details: (http://www.rede-expressos.pt/en). Meal expenses Students are responsible for their meal expenses. For reference, the minimum price of a set lunch at a typical city restaurant is above EUR 7.00. Alternatively, students may enjoy their meals free of charge at the host institutes’ student canteens. Health care and insurance
Each student must buy an international health insurance, with a minimum validity period of six months, against the risk of accidents and for the expenses of medical consultation and hospitalization. The host institutes have also insured all of their students against accidents.
There are campus clinics at the host institutes, offering general medical services to students.Only pharmacies sell medicines in Portugal. Some stronger medicines can be bought only upon the presentation of a prescription. It is recommended that students carry with them a sufficient amount of the medications which they take on a regular basis.
Visa renewal fee The renewal fee for the visa is around EUR162.00 - 200.00. The host institutes will provide guidance to those who need to renew their visas in Portugal. Penalty for failing to declare entry to Portugal
Students are required to complete an Entry Declaration Form from the Immigration Department within 72 hours after their arrival in Portugal, so as to regularize their entry thereto. The host institutes will give guidance to students on how to complete the procedure for regularizing their entry.Any student who fails to regularize his or her entry to Portugal will face a fine of EUR30.00.
Permanent residency visa application fee Any student who wishes to travel to other European countries during the exchange period should change his or her visa to the Permanent Residency visa beforehand. The application fee for the Permanent Residency visa is about EUR147.00. The host institutes will give guidance to those students who need to apply for the Permanent Residency visa. Other fees The host institutes may require students to pay other fees not mentioned above.Note: The above fees are only for reference and subject to change. In the event of discrepancy, the fees published by MPU, the host institutes, or the relevant authorities will prevail.
Students are required to meet a minimum percentage of class attendance for each programme.
Please note that each host institute has its own minimum percentage of class attendance. Students who fail to meet the requirement will not be allowed to take their final assessment and will be given a failing grade thereof.
Supplementary ExaminationsAny student who fails the final assessment must attend its supplementary assessment as scheduled in the host institute’s academic calendar.
Regulations, Guidelines and LegislationsAll students must comply with the rules and regulations of the host institutes, in addition to the laws of Portugal.
What documents should I bring with me to Portugal?
Note: Students must bring along the originals of the above items to Portugal, and are advised to carry with them at least three copies of items no.1 and 2, i.e. passports and ID cards.
- Your passport (with a minimum validity period of 18 months) together with a visa, if necessary;
- Your resident / citizen identity card (with a minimum validity period of 18 months);
- Six recently taken and coloured passport photographs of you against a white background;
- Your international medical insurance card and the corresponding insurance policy;
- Your personal hospitalization insurance card and the corresponding insurance policy;
- Your updated vaccination record;
- A copy of your study agreement; and
- The acceptance letter issued by the host institute.
Post-Exchange MattersStudents must produce their academic transcripts issued by the host institutes to MPU’s Registry for credit conversion and/or subject equivalence.
